| Koren Frost I came to First Investors with an economics degree and the determination to be successful. Even with my economics background, I knew very little about investing or helping people create a financial strategy. During my first interview in the financial services industry, I failed a personality profile test and was told that not only would I not enjoy this business, but I wouldn’t be successful at it either. Naturally, I was determined to prove those statements wrong for career growth. I was promised that I’d be provided with all of the tools I’d need to be successful; all I would have to do is use them. The thing that helped me the most during my early days was my faith in my manager and mentor. I remember Cindy Bordeaux visiting our office when I was a new representative and talking about having faith in the people who were training me, because they had faith in me. I have held that advice close throughout my career and feel that I would not have achieved so much in such a short time without the ongoing support and encouragement of all the great people of the First Investors family. As much as I have enjoyed serving my clients, I have valued the opportunity to teach others how to do the same. Mentoring has not only improved my skills, but also allowed me the chance to help others become successful. My hope is to take the skills I have developed as a representative and mentor to the next level and become a division manager for First Investors within the next year. I want to provide the same limitless opportunities to others that have been offered to me since I walked in the door. I know of no other career or company that would have allowed me to have such a meaningful impact on the lives of others and create such a high degree of personal success. |
